Head Coach - Molly Gilbert

Today Chris Maiello and the athletic department at Darton college announced the hiring of a new Head Swim Coach for the Aqua-darts USS club swim team. Coach Gilbert will begin at Darton College on October 1^st. She will also serve as the assistant to both the men’s and women’s intercollegiate swimming programs. A local swimming product herself, Molly was born and raised here in Albany, GA. She swam with Westover High School and the Flint River Rapids Swim Team. During those years, she also life-guarded and taught swimming lessons. After graduating from Westover High, she attend and swam at Darton College, where she went to NJCAA’s both years and served as team captain her sophomore year. Coach Gilbert was also a member of the 200 free & medley relay teams which still hold the fastest times in program history. After Darton, she transferred to Georgia Southern University and swam on their team.

During the summers, she continued to teach swimming lessons and coached the Albany YMCA Swim Team. Molly received a business degree in Logistics from G.S.U. She pursued a business career in Savannah, GA and remained there for four and a half years. During this time she swam with the Savannah Masters and volunteered at the Rincon YMCA, teaching swimming lessons and serving as assistant coach to their swim team.  Even with receiving a business degree, swimming has always been her passion. She is energized and eager to be back in Albany to pursue a lifelong dream of coaching club and college swimming. Head Coach Chris Maiello commented; “we are excited to have coach Gilbert leading our USS club program. Swimmers here at Darton will continue to gain strength, technical skill, and knowledge while under Molly’s leadership.

Molly’s Experiences includes:

-         13 years of competitive swimming + coaching experience

-         Swam competitively at Westover High

-         Graduate and swim team member of Darton College

-         Local swim coaching at Westover High and Albany YMCA

-         Assistant coach Savannah YMCA

-         Involved in masters swimming in Georgia

-         Swam competitively at Georgia Southern University

-         SCUBA certified
